The story behind Ann Coulter's new book cover

There’s a flattering photo of Ann Coulter in a form-fitting white dress and pointy red shoes on the cover of her new book — the back cover, that is. The front cover of the conservative pundit’s latest tome is black, with the title, “Demonic: How the Liberal Mob Is Endangering America,” emblazoned in red. Coulter’s previous best-sellers have featured the author prominently on the front. So why the switch?

Because Matt Drudge said so. Coulter sent an early version of the book to the Drudge Report’s founder, and he hated the cover art, she told The Daily Caller. “He just started hysterically calling me, and all he wanted to tell me was, ‘No! You need an all-black cover. No picture of you on the cover. Your name and the name of the book,’” Coulter said.

It’s not surprising that Coulter turns to conservative friends in high places for advice; she has long been an icon of the far right, has seven New York Times best-sellers on various political topics to her credit and makes frequent — and often controversial — talk-show appearances.

Coulter has been particularly busy with media appearances this week, promoting the just-released book, and she sat down with the ladies of “The View” on Wednesday.

“You say the Republicans are the party of peaceful order … and the liberals are the party of noisy, violent mobs,” a smiling Hasselbeck said to boos from the audience. “Do explain, Ann.”

Before Coulter could answer, co-host Joy Behar interrupted and took issue with the assertion.giuseppe zanotti Supreme Blue is in fact not a primarily blue shoe. Indeed, on my particular pair of this shoe, the primary color is white “Sounds like the tea party, doesn’t it?” she asked.

The author started listing examples to make her case, but she wasn’t able to convince Behar, who kept the questions coming.

Coulter seemed happy to go back and forth all day, but co-host Whoopi Goldberg ended the segment abruptly. “Ann, I hate to cut you off, but I’m getting it,” she said, pointing to her ear and looking exasperated.
