Joan Waldman dies; 'cookie lady' at Laurie's Shoes [Moncler Jacket]



Joan Waldman was the co-founder of Laurie's, a family-owned chain of shoe stores.

Everyone gets their feet measured by a sales clerk, and the motto is, "Greet, seat and measure both feet."

Mrs. Waldman was the greeter and was known to boys and girls as the "cookie lady." She continued to hand out cookies and balloons long after she stopped actively managing the stores.

Mrs. Waldman died Saturday (May 21, 2011) at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in Town and Country. She was diagnosed with lymphoma and pneumonia, her family said. She was 83 and lived in Clayton.

Laurie's won the Family-Owned Small Business of the Year award from the U.S. Small Business Administration.
