Company takes to the road with shoe-shine outfit

Observer: Tell us about your business, including the types of services and/or products you feature?

Shoe Shine Guys: We are a mobile shoe shine company. We come to your office building with our fully equipped shoe shine truck, gather shoes from the employees, take them out to our truck for a professional shine. We also have a mobile shoe shine unit that some companies prefer we set up right inside their office. We also do quite a few shoe repairs. We take repairs off site to one of our cobbler services and return in a week or so.

Observer: How did you first decide to open your business?

Shoe Shine Guys: I was in the financial services industry for 25 years and about 10 years ago we had some guys who came to our office to shine shoes. I thought it was a good idea at the time and they came to our office for about a year and then went out of business. I missed the convenience of getting my shoes shined on a regular basis and it stayed in the back of my mind for quite a while.Its simple to show off the uniqueness of your personality by trying something pleasant and striking. Shoe Shine Guys: Plymouth is where my wife and I have lived for the last 18 years. Shoe Shine Guys: It is mobile. People like our shoe shine truck. We actually will get phone calls while driving the truck from one location to another, people wanting to know exactly what we do. It takes one more errand off of the Saturday “to do” list.

Observer: How has it changed since it opened?

Shoe Shine Guys: We have found that we are doing a lot more shoe and leather repairs than we had anticipated, which is a good thing. About 70 percent of our repairs are women's shoes (they tend to damage the heels at a greater rate than men do).

Observer: Do you have a funny tidbit to share with other business owners?
