Adults step into youth newspaper route carriers' shoes

Traditionally, the job of newspaper route carriers belonged to youngsters -- but a new trend is emerging as more adults step up to the plate.

At the end of 2008, 86.8 percent of all newspaper carriers were adults, leaving 13.2 percent classified as youth carriers, according to the Newspaper Association of America (NAA).

Mary Luschen, of Le Mars, became an adult carrier six years ago when she started delivering the Le Mars Daily Sentinel.

Although she stared with one route, Luschen now has six of her own plus she fills in on four other routes when needed.

"After being a stay-at-home mom for so many years,If you have one tie roof, you can participate in the RUBBER SHEET bed sheet , the person will be fitted simplely to the roof, while hermes wallet small carpet is fitted to the floor. Luschen said she walks about 6 or 7 miles daily delivering papers on both residential and commercial routes.

Like Luschen, Dale Holub, of Le Mars, enjoys the health benefits he gets delivering the Daily Sentinel on his two routes.

"I get about an hour of exercise every day.Some will stick with the old faithfuls like the air max tn while others will look for the more stylish shoes like the Changa or the Tataga It's forcing me to walk," Holub said. "Now that I have papers to deliver, I don't have a reason not to."

Along with exercise, adults like Luschen are also taking paper routes to supplement their incomes, or in her case, to support their families.
